Engineering Plastics CNC machining Parts
PTFE(Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylene)
What is PTFE?
PTFE stands for polytetrafluoroethylene, a synthetic fluorocarbon-based polymer.
Material Description and Characteristics:
PTFE's mechanical properties are relatively low compared to other plastics, but it performs well over a wide temperature range from -100°F to +400°F.
It has excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties and a low coefficient of friction.
By adding fillers, PTFE’s mechanical properties can be significantly improved. Common fillers include glass fibers, carbon, graphite, molybdenum disulfide, and bronze.
PTFE Machined Parts Include:
Customized PTFE CNC machined components
- PTFE O-rings
- PTFE seats
- PTFE bushings
- PTFE bearings
- PTFE guide blocks
- PTFE wear pads
- Washers
- V-rings
These PTFE machined parts can also be filled with various materials such as fiberglass, Ekonol® (for enhanced wear resistance), carbon, and graphite for improved properties.
Advantages of Using PTFE Filled Compounds
Excellent Chemical Resistance
PTFE is highly resistant to most chemicals, making it ideal for corrosive environments.
Wide Range of Service Temperature
It can operate effectively over a broad temperature range, from extremely low to high temperatures.
Excellent Dielectric Properties
PTFE offers superior electrical insulation, making it ideal for electronic applications.
No Embrittlement or Aging
PTFE retains its properties over time without becoming brittle or deteriorating.
Smooth Surface Finish
A smooth surface finish can be achieved, which is ideal for aesthetic and functional applications.
Electrical Insulation
PTFE offers high electrical insulation, making it suitable for sensitive electrical components.
High Thermal Stability and Flame Resistance
PTFE is highly stable under extreme heat and is resistant to flame.
Resistance to Weathering
PTFE withstands exposure to harsh weather conditions without degradation.
